People will use a seat cushion for varying number of reasons. I have one in my car, and one in my office to help me sit up straight and prevent discomfort and back pain. The materials used to make a seat cushion comes with all different kinds of make ups, sizes and shapes. But I’ve done a little research and basically found that the best seat cushion to use is one with a memory foam base with a gel layer on top.
Memory foam itself is viscoelastic meaning it moves when pressure or force is applied and it returns to its original shape when you remove the force / pressure. Memory foam pretty much adapts to your body shape, but it does not disperse pressure evenly when force is applied.
In the hybrid seat cushion the memory foam acts a shock absorber, while the gel layer on top provides uniform pressure distribution. The combination of the two materials has proven to be the best way to disperse pressure, help with back pain, promote proper posture and maintain comfort.
